New Year Reflection

2024 has been a pretty good year, but surprise, surprise, I did get burned out again. When writing is my full-time job, it’s hard to keep up any kind of writing practice outside of that for myself. Reading also proves difficult when I lack the mental capacity after work. I want to do more book reviews and engage in more book clubs. But my schedule and workload leave me zapped.

I don’t know how to change any of that, as it is simply the nature of a full-time corporate job. At least I have my taekwondo practice to help my sanity and feel like I do something for myself. I even earned by black belt this year! But I would like to have something more outside of just these two things.

I tried an affiliate marketing program with Mythologie Candles, but it didn’t pan out. I encountered a major difficulty in having a technical issue with my account and no one ever responded to help fix it. So, it has remained inactive due to a lack of response from the company. I may try to look into other affiliate marketing programs, but in the meantime, I want to lean more into my Bookshop. That may mean more lists and book recommendation posts on my blog.

Speaking of the blog, I tried returning to a bi-weekly schedule (or twice a month), but with my work, it’s simply too hard for me. I will go back to a monthly posting as I did in 2023 so that I don’t feel the burnout and continue to enjoy this.

I also want to make a return to poetry. I started reading oracle and tarot cards a little over a year ago, and I had the idea to find inspiration in my oracle deck of goddesses. So, keep an eye out for that poetry series after I finish the Folklore Chronicles.

Let me know what you’re looking forward to in 2025, whether it’s personal, writing, reading, travel or anything else. Come say hi!
